By virtue of smartphone units sold in Q1 2020, Vivo is the sixth leading vendor in the world with a market share of 7%. According to a Counterpoint Research, this equates to over 21 million units shipped in the said period.

The company is also at the heart of several other smartphone innovations, but that’s not the purpose of this article. Here, we talk about the company’s software update escapades, more so the latest Vivo Android 10 update that brings Funtouch OS 10 to eligible devices.

 

Vivo Android 10 update (Funtouch OS 10)

 

Similar to a few other Android vendors, Vivo also registered three devices into the beta program of Android Q, namely Vivo X27, Vivo NEX S, and Vivo NEX A. However, these devices are yet to receive the stable Funtouch OS 10 update (as of June 4).

Matter of fact, Vivo still has a long way to go as far as the stable Android 10 update is concerned. Most devices are still testing the beta version with an expected release of the stable OTA somewhere in Q2 and Q3 2020.

As of this writing, these are the devices that have received the stable Vivo Android 10 update so far:

Note that this list isn’t complete. As mentioned earlier, Vivo still has some work to do in terms of upgrading its devices to Android 10. We will keep an eye on the rollout and update this article as and when we get news.

Update 7 (July 9)

 

Folks in India can now download and install the test version of Android 10 on their Vivo S1 Pro handsets.

 

Update 8 (July 10)

 

Vivo Z1 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro users in India are now receiving the stable Funtouch OS 10 update based on Android 10 on a wider scale. See the details here and here, respectively.

 

Update 9 (July 13)

 

Vivo Y17 is reportedly receiving what is likely the stable update to Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 10. See the full coverage here.

 

Update 10 (July 15)

 

Vivo India says the Funtouch OS 10 update based on Android 10 has been pushed to the Vivo S1, but the rollout is still limited. Head here for more details111

 

Update 11 (July 16)

Update 12 (July 17)

 

The Vivo V11 Pro will reportedly receive the Funtouch OS 10 update based on Android 10 somewhere towards the end of August or in early September. The full story is here.

 

Update 13 (July 21)

 

A new report says the Vivo R&D team is already working on the Funtouch OS 10 (Android 10) update for the Vivo V9. See the full story here.

 

Update 14 (July 28)

 

Vivo has now begun pushing a new Funtouch OS 10 update based on Android 10 to the Vivo X30 Pro units in China. At present, it remains unclear whether the new software is a beta build or if it’s a stable build. See the full story here.

Update 15 (July 31)

 

Unfortunately, it seems that the Vivo V9 Youth will not be getting the Android 10 (Funtouch OS 10) update citing stability and compatibility concerns according to a Vivo representative. See the full story here.

According to a couple of comments posted by Vivo on Facebook, it appears that the Android 10 (FunTouch OS 10) update for the Vivo V15 has been released and is currently under greyscale testing. See the full story here.

I play golf and I get a lot of notifications but not a lot of calls. If I get a call it’s usually an important one that can’t be ignored. With the volume separated, I can quiet the notifications but not miss that call and sometimes on the golf course I won’t feel the vibration.
